In the iPhone series, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are brand new series. Besides the obvious new “Dynamic Island” front camera design, there are a lot of things to like in this series. If you have been waiting for the latest iPhone, read on.
Dynamic Island
- From the multiple leaks through the technical specifications, Apple has settled on a weird pill-and-hole camera cut-out design. Apple has also brought up the idea of the notch but failed to make the Touch Bar catch on.
- However, there is space between the pill and the hole but it is not visible to users because the hole is expanded using software, making the black patch visible.
- Notifications and status indicators are integrated into UI elements which is making it interactive.
- Additionally, for the user’s distractions, apple has worked on a set of fluid animations and transitions.
- When needed, the active display area expands into a notification popup and will show things like a tiny version of your album artwork while music is playing, a payment indicator, a charging indicator, etc.
- Overall, it’s an improvement over the notch making iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Mac very fresh.
Design:
- The most interesting thing about this series of iPhones is the new signature color which is Deep Purple. The color looks grey with a slight tint because of the desaturated and dark color. The other colors are Space Black, Silver, and Gold. Weigh of iPhone 14 Pro is 206g. On the other hand, the weight of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is 240g.
- While talking about shape and proportions, it is almost like the 12 Pro series.
- If you are a US customer, you will not find any SIM tray. This is Apple’s goal for which the company has been working for a while. But India has been spared for now from this design.
Display and Specifications:
- iPhone 14 series has the Super Retina XDR display, which is now slightly taller and has narrower borders than other series.
- Apple offers a massive 1600 nits peak brightness for HDR and these panels are rated to hit 2000 nits outdoors. iPhone refresh rate can go down to 1Hz to save power.
- The huge change in this series is Always-on display. The new iOS 16 Always-on display is simply your lock screen but dimmed.
- Apple adjusts your wallpaper image using machine learning to lessen brightness while maintaining detail. The widgets on your lock screen are still visible.
- With the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Pro, respectively, Apple promises a battery life of 29 hours and 23 hours.
- There is a new A16 Bionic SoC with numerous enhancements. With 16 billion transistors it uses a 4nm manufacturing process. With its six CPU cores, five GPU cores, 16 neural engine cores, and several additional subsystems, Apple claims to have the best performance and power efficiency in the industry.
Cameras
- And my favorite part is a brand new camera setup. This time it has a 48-megapixel camera and quad-pixel binning for the first time.
- Additionally, Apple offers 65 percent larger than the iPhone 13 Pro. The camera can be optimized for light capture, with four pixels grouped into one, resulting in 12-megapixel photos.
- Furthermore, there is a new 2X zoom option through which you crop the middle of a 48-megapixel shot to get the high detail results of a 12-megapixel. Apple also offers the new Action Mode video feature that crops video to make it compress.
- A new 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera sensor is also now available, with additional focus pixels for crisper macros and improved low-light photos. Autofocus and an f/1.9 aperture for far better low-light pictures are added to the front camera. With nine LEDs and sophisticated pattern and intensity modification, the back flash is now adaptable.
- Crash detection and satellite-based emergency messages are other new features (only in the US and Canada for now). With iOS 16, which also adds a lot of new features, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available.
